Server version of MICROSENS Management Software now available

MICROSENS, a German manufacturer of optical transmission solutions and fiber optics-based networking solutions for in-house cabling, has just launched the server version of its management software programme, the NMP. The new version gives administrators more flexibility in terms of access to relevant network information and configuration data, and it can now be operated redundantly as well. The server makes secure Web-based access possible and also allows administrators to do configuration via smart phones or tablet PCs - installing a client programme is no longer necessary. This also makes it easier to connect external user groups, such as IT service providers, with the help of fixed access privileges. These are broken down into fine detail so that administrators can directly assign certain permissions to specific groups of devices or individual network components.

Redundant construction, parallel access and automatic documentation

The NMP server allows up to 50 administrators to access the system at once and automatically recognizes when a single device is being configured from multiple locations simultaneously. The server version saves information about device grouping, configuration and topology - including all change histories - in an SQL database. This gives administrators uninterrupted documentation of all changes and configuration work as well as precise information on the corresponding user.

Shortened restoration times

Practical functions, such as time-controlled firmware updates or automatic transferral of master configuration settings to the device group level, shorten restore times and make administrators' work easier. When a device is replaced, the programme detects the identical model and can then automatically restore configurations as well as firmware settings. On top of that, the NMP software also takes care of end-to-end provisioning for the MICROSENS Optical Transport Platform. Individual services need only be configured at their respective starting and ending points. All intermediate systems are then automatically configured by the NMP server.
Versions for Windows Server 2003 / 2008 available immediately

The MICROSENS Network Management Platform is available for Windows Server 2003 / 2008; the 5-client licenses can be purchased in packages of various sizes. One year of update service is already included with the license.

Transmitting information via fiber optic connections offers numerous benefits. MICROSENS GmbH & Co. KG recognised this very early on. As one of the pioneers, the company has developed and produced high-performance communications and transmission systems in Germany since 1993. Individually matched to the demands of diverse usage areas and embedded in comprehensive concepts for individual sectors. But, above all, close to the customer. Technical challenges from customer projects are incorporated directly into product development. This way, IP-based automation solutions are created for modern buildings, cost-efficient network concepts for the office and workspace, robust and fail-safe solutions for industrial environments, optical transport systems future-oriented wide area networks and efficient coupling of sites and computer centres.
