Easy entry into optical transport networks: Microsens presents its modular MSP 1000 platform

Microsens now offers a cost-efficient means of establishing future-oriented optical transport networks. The German company presents the MSP 1000 platform based on CWDM/DWDM technology for this purpose. The centrepiece of the modular system is a 4-U chassis that can be equipped with a broad range of function modules. Telecommunication providers, computing center operators and companies with large networks can, thus, establish up to 22 transmission channels in one chassis. This allows them to flexibly and quickly adapt the capacities and options of utilization of their backbone connections to new demands.

Individually configurable

The chassis of the MSP 1000 platform accommodates up to fourteen application modules, all of which are accessible from the front of the chassis and can be exchanged during ongoing operation. Microsens offers a wide range of active and passive components, including 1-channel or 2-channel transponders, optical amplifiers, as well as multiplexers in CWDM and DWDM technology. Various service protocols with data rates from 100 Mbps to 10 Gbps can be transmitted, e.g. Fast Ethernet, ESCON, ATM OC-12/OC-48, 1/2/4/10G Fibre Channel, SDH STM-1/4/16 or also Gigabit and 10G Ethernet. Pluggable XFP, SFP or SFP+ transceivers ensure additional flexibility with the transponder modules. A stacking module allows several chassis to be combined to form a logical system. Depending on the application area, a redundant power supply in AC/DC or also in mixed voltage operation is possible. The network management module of the MSP 1000 platform includes an intelligent Web server and provides the operating parameters and configuration settings for all modules to the Microsens NMP management software or to a superordinate network management system via SNMP.

About MICROSENS

Transmitting information via fiber optic connections offers numerous benefits. MICROSENS GmbH & Co. KG recognised this very early on. As one of the pioneers, the company has developed and produced high-performance communications and transmission systems in Germany since 1993. Individually matched to the demands of diverse usage areas and embedded in comprehensive concepts for individual sectors. But, above all, close to the customer. Technical challenges from customer projects are incorporated directly into product development. This way, IP-based automation solutions are created for modern buildings, cost-efficient network concepts for the office and workspace, robust and fail-safe solutions for industrial environments, optical transport systems future-oriented wide area networks and efficient coupling of sites and computer centres.
