Description

Standalone passive multiplexers are often used within xWDM systems to avoid the use of passive components in active module slots in chassis.

 

With its DWDM multiplexers, MICROSENS offers cost-efficient solutions to extend active DWDM systems with multiplexers, but also to enable passive DWDM solutions (DWDM transceivers are installed directly in the upstream switch).

The DWDM channels are standardized according to ITU G.694.1.MICROSENS multiplexers are compatible with other DWDM systems and standardized DWDM transceivers.

MICROSENS offers two DWDM multiplexer versions, whereby multiplexing and demultiplexing are always implemented within the components:

- 8-channel DWDM multiplexer (channel number 44 - 51)
- 40-channel DWDM multiplexer (channel number 21 - 60)

Both versions are 19", do not require a power supply (MICROSENS definition for "passive device") and are completely protocol transparent. The DWDM multiplexers also have no limits with regard to the data rate to be transmitted; the limits are determined by the active technology and the fiber quality of the transmission path.

In contrast to CWDM, the transmission frequency in DWDM is always in the optimal C-band, the channel spacing’s are much narrower at 0.8nm.
