The Mini Fiber Monitor application is an OTDR measurement and the associated measurement of the fiber quality of a fiber optic connection. This is performed uninterrupted and can be used, for example, within an xWDM system.
The system very accurately detects or locates the source of the error in the event of a sudden message (e.g. via SNMP). This leads to a considerable improvement in service and quality processes and optimizes possible repair work.
The Mini Fiber Monitor is mapped and parameterized via the MICROSENS firmware of the G6 components. Within an MSP1000 system, the Mini Fiber Monitor can be inserted directly into one of the SFP slots of the MSP1000 agent and fed into the system via a WDM channel using OADM. SNMP can also be used to report a change in fiber condition directly to a higher-level management system.
