MICROSENS supplies fiber optic components for goal line technology

From the first day of play in the French football league, Ligue 1, the French league association LFP will be relying on goal line technology from GoalControl GmbH. From the start of the upcoming football season on 7 August 2015, the goals in the French first football league will be monitored by German technology tested during the world cup. A reliable fiber optic network based on components from MICROSENS GmbH & Co. KG ensures the quick transmission of all information.

The GoalControl-4D system monitors all movements on the playing field, focuses on the ball and records its trajectory exactly down to the millimetre as soon as it gets near the goal. After each goal, seven cameras send high-resolution images over a fiber optic network built with MICROSENS components to a central evaluation unit. The challenges for the active network components are correspondingly high: the switches have to work even in the most extreme weather conditions. The fiber optic components from MICROSENS had already demonstrated their reliability during the last world cup and have now also been selected for the new project from GoalControl.
